HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - 1971.02.04 - 16054February 4, 1971 RESOLUTION NO. 5602 RE: CONTRACT AWARD AND APPROVAL OF COST FOR YOUTH ACTIVITIES CENTER COMPLEX BY: FINANCE COMMITTEE - Mr. Brennan TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MR. CHAIRMAN, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN: WHEREAS, the Board of Auditors received bids for the con- struction of the Youth Activities Center Complex; and WHEREAS, the Board of Auditors tabulated said bids and recom- mended to a joint meeting of the Finance and Planning, Zoning and Building Committees that the following are the lowest responsible bidders in which recommendations your Committees concu General Contract P. J. Mason Construction, Inc. Site Work J. D. Armstrong Landscape Company Water Tank Chicago Bridge and Iron Company and $442,730.00 $123,900.00 $102,500.00 WHEREAS, additional construction items and other expenses totaling $127,870.00 should be included in said Project, said additional items are set forth in the Report of the Board of Auditors, Department of Facilities and Operations, a copy of which is attached hereto; and WHEREAS, there has been previously appropriated the sum of $40,000.00 for the Youth Activities Center Project; and WHEREAS, the total amount of the Project is $97,000.00; and WHEREAS, your Committee recommends that the Project cost of $797,000.00 $x** be approved. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: 1. That the bids of.the following lowest responsible bidders be accepted: General Contract P. J. Mason Construction, Inc. Site Work J. D. Armstrong Landscape Company Water Tank Chicago Bridge and Iron Company $442,730.00 $123,900.00 $102,500.00 2. That the Contracts be awarded to the lowest responsible bidders and that the Chairman and Clerk of this Board be and they are hereby authorized to execute said Contracts. 3. That this award shall not be effective until the awardees have been notified in writing by the Oakland County Board of Auditors. 4. That the Board of Auditors be authorized to return the Bid Bonds or Certified Checks to the unsuccessful bidders, except that the Bid Bonds or Certified Checks of the three lowest respon- sible bidders of each category be retained by the Board of Auditors until the execution of the Contracts by the awardees and the County of Oakland. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Board of Commissioners ap- proves the additional construction items and other expenses as set forth in the Report of the Board of Auditors, Department of Facil- ities and Operations, as attached hereto, in an amount not to exceed $127,870.00, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the additional sum of $757,000.00 be appropriated from the Building Fund to the Youth Activities Fred Da , Charlie J. HarrgSon, Jr. ()N)" Alexander C. Perinoff Center Project, said sum of $757,000.00 being required to complete the financing of the Youth Activities Center Project. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the total cost of the Youth $797,000.00 Activities Center Project in the amount of $;eagc.?-91a0GaQ be approved. MR. This will confirm information which was provided to Mr. Doebler on January 15, 1971 and January 18 1 1971. If you need more information or if we can be of assistance in any way, please contact me.
