Mainland, Chairman IN RE: SUBMISSION OF CHANGES IN MERIT SYSTEM RULES TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMISSIONERS Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS Section IV, Subsection A of the Merit System Resolution requires that copies of all changes in the rules and regulations of the Merit System shall be submitted to the Board of Commissioners at a regular meeting of the Board and shall become effective thirty days after such meeting unless objection is received in writing by the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, in which case the objection shall become a matter of business at the next meeting of the Board, and WHEREAS. it has become desirable to make certain changes in the wording of Rules 17, 23 and 24 as spelled out in the attachments to this resolution, and WHEREAS your Personnel Practices Committee reviewed and approved these changes at its meeting of March 17, 1971. NOW THEREFORE let the reading of this notice and the distribution of this notice and the attached forms labeled "Proposed Change in Merit System Rule", to all the Commissioners present and absent, be considered as the official submission, to the Board of Commissioners, of the described changes in Rules 17, 23 and 24. If the injury or illness is deemed compensable, the employee shall be paid directly by the County in the following manner. 1. An employee off work due to an injury or illness, deemed compensable by the . Workmen's Compensation Commission, shall be paid, by the County, the difference between his regular normal salary, at the time injured, and the payment made under the provisions of the Workmen's Compensatiop. Act for as long as such Workmen's Compensation payments are received, not to exceed payment for the number of.working days in/six of the employee's normal Pay PeriodS. PROPOSED WORDING . If the injury or illness is deemed compensable, the employee shall be paid directly by the County in the following manner. 1. An employee off work due to an • injury or illness, deemed compensable by the Workmen's Compensation Commission, shall be paid, by the County, the difference between 80% of his regular normal salary, at the time injured -, and the payment made under the provisions of the Workmen's Compensation Act for as long as such Workmen's Compensation payments are received but not to exceed 52 weeks. REASON FOR CHANGE This change was negotiated in collective bargaining with the County's organized employees. Payment when separating from the County for reasons other than Retirement or Death. 1. An employee separating for these reasons shall receive one-half pay •for his unused accumulated Sick ,Leave in excess of 100 days. a.
