RESOLUTION NO
RE: OPPOSITION TO PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO ACT 147 OF THE PUBLIC
ACTS OF 1939 (Senate Bill 74 & House Bill 4269)

TO: THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
MR. CHAIRMAN, LADIES & GENTLEMEN:
WHEREAS, there has been proposed an amendment to Act 147
of the Public Acts of 1939 which would increase the present millage
levied for the Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority from 1/4 to 1/2
mill upon the approval by a vote of the people; and
WHEREAS, the millage levied for the Huron-Clinton Metropolitan
Authority is taken from the County's share of the allocated property
tax millage; and
WHEREAS, any increase would also :come from the County's portion
of the allocated millage and thus reduce the General Fund revenue
necessitating a cutback in other County Programs;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of
Commissioners opposes the proposed amendment to Act 147 of the Public
Acts of 1939 which would increase the present millage of the Huron-
Clinton Metropolitan Authority to be taken from the County's share
of the allocated millage;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
forwarded to each of the Oakland County Legislative Delegation in
Lansing, Michigan.
The Local & Regional Affairs Committee, by Joseph L. Barakat,
Chairman, moves the adoption of the foregoing resolution.

Moved by Barakat supported by Simson that the resolution be adopted.
A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the resolution was adopted.
Mrs. Bawden suggested that a copy of the resolution be sent to the School Districts
and townships.
The Chairman so ordered.
