IN RE: COUNTY WITHDRAWAL FROM SEMCOG BY: JAMES M. BRENNAN TO: THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MR. CHAIRMAN, LADIES & GENTLEMEN: WHEREAS, the Southeastern Michigan Council of Governments has not proved Itself to be an effective tool for solving regional problems; and WHEREAS, the delegates to the Southeastern Michigan Council of Governments are appointed rather than elected by the people; and WHEREAS, the structure of the Southeastern Michigan Council of Governments is not in accordance with the one man, one vote concept; and WHEREAS, the direction of government should be to the elimination and con- solidation, rather than the duplication of functions, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Oakland County withdraw from the Southeastern Michigan Council of Governments. MR. CHAIRMAN, I move that the foregoing resolution be referred to the Regional Affairs Committee for consideration and recommendation. 5284 #5284 The resolution was referred to the Regional Affairs Committee.
