BY: Carl W. O'Brien
Carl-V. O'Brien
Commissioner, District #21
Oakland County Board of Commissioners
IN RE: SELLING OF ANIMALS FROM THE COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER
TO UNIVERSITY AND MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
Since we consider vivi-section to be inhumane, archaic and brutal, we feel
that the County of Oakland should have no part in selling animals for this purpose.
Therefore, Mr. Chairman, I offer the following resolution:
"BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners prohibit
the selling of animals from the County Animal Shelter to university and medical
institutions for the purpose of vivisection."
MR. CHAIRMAN, I move that the foregoing resolution be received and
referred to the Human Resources Committee for consideration and report back to this
Board.
The Chairman referred the resOlution to the Human Resources
Committee.
