Skarritt, Chairperson E: Miscellaneous Resolution #90021, Open Housing Center for Oakland County TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: The General Government Committee, having reviewed the above referenced resolution, reports with the recommendation that the resolution be adopted. Mr. Chairperson, on behalf of the General Government Committee, I move the acceptance of the foregoing report. GENERAL GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE February 8, 1990 Miscellaneous Resolution # 90021 BY: Lillian Jaffe Oaks, County Commissioner - District #21 Mark W. Chester, County Commissioner - District #10 RE: Open Housing Center for Oakland County TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS, cultural, ethnic, religious and racial pluralism is a positive and appropriate model for neighborhoods and communities throughout the United States; and WHEREAS, efforts to promote and encourage greater appreciation for those communities which reflect such pluralism warrant both public and private support; and WHEREAS, cities, villages and towns must continue to take affirmative steps to encourage people from all races, religions and ethnic backgrounds to live in their cities and avail themselves of the choice of where they wish to live and utilize the services and amenities offered. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners supports the concept of the Oakland County Center for Open Housing to build community understanding and support for fair and open housing and to achieve a stable and intergrated housing process in Oakland County, and urges other communities within Oakland County to adopt resolutions of support for the Oakland County Center for Open Housing.
