WITLIAM CADDELL, CHAIRPERSON IN RE: PUBLIC WORKS/FACILITIES ENGINEERING DIVISION - AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR SOUTH OAKLAND COUNTY HEALTH CENTER TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS by Miscellaneous Resolution #89061 the Board of Commissioners authorized the County Executive's Facilities Engineering Division to receive bids to extend the existing fire sprinkler system at the South Oakland Health Center at an estimated cost of $25,000; and WHEREAS in accordance with bidding procedures, bids for the installation of the above mentioned were received and reviewed by the Department of Public Works on March 9, 1989; and WHEREAS the County Executive's Department of Public Works has reviewed all bids submitted and recommends that the lowest responsible bidder, Ace Sprinkler Company of Detroit, Michigan be awarded a contract for construction in the amount of $6,664 and WHEREAS the contract has been reviewed by Corporation Counsel; and WHEREAS additional costs are estimated to be $3,336; and WHEREAS the total cost of the above mentioned work is estimated to be $10,000 as detailed in the attached schedule; and WHEREAS total funding for the project cost of $10,000 is available in the Capital Improvement Programs Building Section-Remodeling Account; and HyTRY APPRVE TPE y : 'aniel T. Murpit9 - Date NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED as follows: 1) Funds of $10,000 be transferred from the Building Fund (#40100) to the Project Work Order fund (#40400) to fund the Fire Sprinkler project, 2) The contract proposal of Ace Sprinkler Company of Detroit, Michigan in the amount of $6,664 be accepted and the contract awarded in concurrence with the Planning and Building Committee recommendations, 3) Funds be provided in the amount of $3,336 to cover the remaining project costs, 4) The Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners is authorized and directed to execute a contract with Ace Sprinkler Company of Detroit, Michigan on behalf of the County of Oakland, 5) The County Executive's Department of Public Works, Facilities Engineering Division, shall notify the awardee of this award, in writing no later than 10 days after adoption of this resolution. The award shall not be effective until the awardee has been notified. Mt. Chairperson, on behalf of the Finance Committee, I move the adoption of the foregoing resolution. FINANCE COMMITTEE nf-mrawardcc OAKLAND COUNTY EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS FACILITIES ENGINEERING DIVISION AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR ADDITIONS TO THE FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM SOUTH OAKLAND COUNTY HEALTH CENTER Project No.: 89-7A November 14, 1989 In accordance with authorization received on March 9, 1989, in the form of Miscellaneous Resolution 89061, drawings and specifications for the Additions to the Fire Sprinkler System at the South Oakland Health Center were prepared. The project was advertised and bids were received at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, November 2, 1989. These bids are summarized on the attached Bid Tabulation Sheet. The low responsible bidder was Ace Sprinkler Company of Detroit, Michigan, with a bid of $6,664.00. This contractor has performed satisfactorily for us before, most recently on Jail Modifications (Architectural), Project 81-11 (II). The project is expected to be completed on January 31, 1990, and the total cost is estimated to be: 1. Construction $ 6,664.00 2. Landscaping 600.00 3. Maintenance Charges 736.00 4. Administrative Expenses 1,000.00 Sub-Total $ 9,000.00 5. Contingency (11%) 1,000.00 Total Project Cost $10,000.00 Funding in the amount of $63,000.00 is available from the Miscellaneous Remodeling line item in the 1989 Capital Improvement Program. We are, therefore, recommending that a contract in the amount of $6,664.00 be awarded to Ace Sprinkler Company. Further, we are recommending that total project funding in the amount of $10,000.00 be appropriated. REPORT BY Planning and Building Committee, Anne M.
