Miscellaneous Resolution # 88030
BY: David L. Moffitt, County Commissioner-District #15
RE: COST ANALYSIS STUDY OF INCREASED WET WELL CAPACITY- WALNUT LAKE PUMPING
STATION NO. 2
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources has made public a
study it has completed on the Walnut Lake Pumping Station No. 2; and
WHEREAS, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources' report indicates
that this facility's storage capacity of 6,000 gallons should be increased to
50,000-75,000 gallons; and
WHEREAS, the Oakland County Department of Public Works has responded to
the Michigan Department of Natural Resources report recommending against such
increase in capacity, maintaining that the enhancements made to the pumping
station obviates any need for additional storage capacity, and estimates that
the cost for the additional 50,000-75,000 gallon capacity would be $225,000-
$300,000; and
WHEREAS, the divergence of opinion of these two credible sources requires
additional study and analysis.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners
hereby directs its Director of Program Evaluation & Operations Analysis to
conduct an in-depth review of the costs, benefits and needs contained in these
two reports, and present his finding and recommendations to the Oakland County
Board of Commissioners' Planning and Building Committee.
Mr. Chairperson, I move the adopt,i-von „.qf the foregoing resolution.
