Calandro, Chairperson IN RE: CIRCUIT COURT - ESTABLISHMENT OF RESEARCH ATTORNEY CLASSIFICATION TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS the retention and attraction of qualified Research Law Clerk staff has been an increasing concern of the Circuit Court; and WHEREAS part of the Salary AdMinistration Second Quarterly Report for 1988 contained a request by theCircuit Court to place the Research Law Clerk classification on the salary grade plan; and WHEREAS the Personnel Department has reviewed this request and finds that the classification is appropriately placed as an exception to salary grade placement; and WHEREAS a recent study of Research Law Clerks and review of relevant salary information both show that a new classification at a higher salary range is warranted; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that a new classification of Research Attorney be established as an exception to salary grade placement at the following new salary range: Base 1 Year 2 Year 3 Year 30,305 31,299 33,128 34,956 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that current Research Law Clerks who have been admitted to the State Bar be reclassified to the Research Attorney classification; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that current Research Law Clerks be placed on the salary range based on an equivalent experience within or outside of the County, but no higher than the two year step. Mr. Chairperson, on behalf of the Personnel Committee, I move the adoption of the foregoing resolution.
