RE: CAMP OAKLAND-MAINTENANCE REPAIRS
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS Oakland County government funded and managed the
operation of Camp Oakland prior to its privatization; and
WHEREAS maintenance repairs are needed to bring Camp Oakland to
acceptable standards; and
WHEREAS the Camp Oakland administration has prepared a list of
equipment replacement and building repair items which, with a 10
percent contingency, total $100, 000 on a one-time basis.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Department of Public
Works be and is hereby authorized to implement the aforementioned
replacements and repairs on behalf of Camp Oakland at a cost not to
exceed $100, 000 on a one-time basis.
Mr. Chairperson, on behalf of the Planning & Building Committe, I
move the adoption of the foregoing resolution.

The following is a list of estimated costs for the items which Mr. Ballenberger
would like to have repaired or replaced at the Camp Oakland Boy's and Girl's
Ranch and Work Education facilities. The estimates include a 10 percent
contingency.
Boy's Ranch
Replace four deteriorated shower controls
Replace shower ceramic floor
Carpet bedroom, upstairs hall, stairs, T.V. room, and rear hall
Supply new commercial grade refrigerator, freezer and dishwasher
Replace deteriorated wood kitchen cabinets
Install new mud room roof
Vent mud room lay
Remove and replace 21 bedroom and T.V. room windows
Replace two broken plumbing fixtures
Replace all curtains
Remove built-in dressers and repair walls
Repair vestibule ceiling
Girl's Ranch
Replace exhaust fan in bathroom
Remove four bathtubs and ceramic; re-pipe and install showers
Replace 16 built-in closet units
Repair ceiling in hall and front room
New commercial grade gas stove
Replace furnace
Replace basement door frame

IN RE: MISCELLANEOUS RESOLUTION #87281
CAMP OAKLAND - MAINTENANCE REPAIRS
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
MR. CHAIRPERSON, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
The Finance Committee, having reviewed Miscellaneous
Resolution #87281, Camp Oakland - Maintenance Repairs, reports
with the recommendation that the resolution be amended by adding
the following BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED paragraph:
In accordance with county policy, the county
agrees that qualified small and/or minority
business enterprises shall have the maximum
practicable opportunity to participate in the
performance of this contract.
MR. CHAIRPERSON, on behalf of the Finance Committee,
move the acceptance of the foregoing report.

TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
Pursuant to Rule XI-G of this Board, the Finance Committee has
1) The Division of Facilities, Maintenance and Operations has
identified certain building repairs and equipment replacements
necessary for Camp Oakland,
2) The cost of these repairs including a contingency is $100,000,
3) Funding for this project is recommended from Miscellaneous
Remodeling in the 1987 Capital Improvements Program - Building
Section, not to exceed $100,000.

be accepted.
A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the report was accepted.
Moved by Hobart supported by Price the resolution be adopted.
Moved by Price supported by Hobart the resolution be amended by
adding the following BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED paragraph: "In accordance
with county policy, the county agrees that qualified small and/or minority
business enterprises shall have the maximum practicable opportunity to
participate in the performance of this contract."
A sufficient majority having voted therefor, the amendment carried.
