Doyon, County Commissioner-District #10 IN RE: MERIT SYSTEM-INCLUSION OF PROSECUTOR'S STAFF IN MERIT SYSTEM TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS, by passage of Miscellaneous Resolution #4606, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners established the Oakland County Merit System for its employees; and WHEREAS, Section II of that Resolution as well as Rule T, Sec. B., 6,c, states that "The Personnel Committee shall have final determination as to who shall be covered within the intent of this resolution;" and WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has stated his interest in creating a career path for his Assistant Prosecutor's and Investigators for the purpose of recruiting and retaining highly qualified personnel; and WHEREAS, as an initial step in that direction, the Assistant Prosecutors have opted to re-enter the Oakland County Employees Retirement System; and WHEREAS, to assist the Prosecutor in creating a professional environment which will allow the recruitment of the highest caliber employees and to reduce the turn-over rate of that staff, it is necessary to provide the protection of the County's Merit System as an incentive to making County government employment a desireable career choice. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the following positions within the Prosecuting Attorney's Office be covered by the Oakland County Merit System: Prosecutor Trainee, Senior Trial Lawyer, Assistant Prosecutor III, Assistant Prosecutor II, Assistant Prosecutor I, Prosecutor's Investigators, and all Division Chiefs. Mr. Chairperson, I move the adoption of the foregoing resolution.
