IN RE: SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT - DISPOSITION OF PROPERTY HELD
BY SHERIFF
To The Oakland County Board of Commissioners
Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS the Sheriff of Oakland County requests authority
from this Board to dispose of unclaimed evidence which has been
unclaimed for six months or more, such authority being necessary
pursuant to the provisions of Act 54 of the Public Acts of 1959, as
amended; said unclaimed evidence to be disposed of by manner of
Public Auction.
WHEREAS since unclaimed evidence to be disposed of consists
of long guns, a special auction will be necessary; and
WHEREAS the liability of this auction is a concern, only
licensed registered gun dealers may bid on the items for auction;
and
WHEREAS the dates and notice of publication to be worked
out in accordance with Corporation Counsel, and the Purchasing Division.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the authority to
dispose of such unclaimed evidence be and the same is hereby granted
to the Sheriff of Oakland County, such unclaimed evidence to be
disposed of in the manner prescribed in Act 54 of the Public Acts
of 1959, as amended.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT after all expenses attributed
to this auction have been paid, the remainder of the proceeds of
said auction shall go to the Sheriff's Department Capital Outlay Line-item
for purchasing of new equipment.
Mr. Chairperson, on behalf of the Public Services Committee,
I move the adoption of the foregoing resolution.
