Aaron, County Commissioner - District #19 IN RE: Board of Commissioners - Designation of April 18, 1985 as Holocaust Memorial Day TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF' COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS, forty years ago this month Allied Forces achieved victory over one of the most oppressive, murderous and inhumane menaces in recorded history; and WHEREAS, the tragedy of the brief, but terrible reign of the Nazis must never be forgotten; and WHEREAS, the grief and pain of the survivors and the mute witness of millions of victims in mass graves will always seed renewed resolve that such brutal inhumanity of Man to Man never recur; and WHEREAS, April 18, 1985 has been designated as a National and World Holocaust Memorial Day; and WHEREAS, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners desires to join in this observance to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust and express our desire that such horrors are never repeated. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners does hereby declare April 18, 1985 to be Holocaust Memorial Day in Oakland County.
