Proposal:
CHARTER AMENDMENT 1
DIRECT ELECTION OF MAYOR
• Shall the City Charter of the City of Farmington Hills be amended to provide for the direct
election of a Mayor by the electors to a two year term with a limitation that no person may serve
as Mayor for more than two consecutive terms?
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
This Charter Amendment would have the Mayor elected by the voters for a term of two years
and limit an individual to two consecutive terms as Mayor instead of being elected by City
Council from among its members to serve at their pleasure, as is provided by current Charter.
