WILLIAM CADDELL, CHAIRPERSON BY: FINANCE COMMITTEE wk7/de9011mr IN RE: SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT - 1990/91 SECONDARY ROAD PATROL - ACT 416 - GRANT ACCEPTANCE TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentleman: WHEREAS Miscellaneous Resolution #89105 requires the Finance Committee to review the acceptance of all grants that vary less than fifteen(15) percent from the original grant application; and WHEREAS the Michigan Department of State Police - Office of Highway Safety Planning has approved the Secondary Road Patrol and Traffic Accident Prevention Program grant in the amount of $734,541, the same amount as the application as detailed in schedule A; and WHEREAS the grant is for the period October 1, 1990 through September 30,1991 with $606,265(83%) funded by the State and $128,276(17%) funded by the County; and WHEREAS the State funding level represents a decrease of $15,441 from the 1989/90 grant; and WHEREAS County match has also been reduced by $16,466 to maintain proportionate funding, while maintaining current program level; and WHEREAS County match for the 1990/91 program is available in the Sheriff's Department's 1990/91 budget; and WHEREAS the grant agreement has been reviewed and approved by Corporation Counsel as to legal sufficiency. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners accepts the 1990-91 Secondary Road Patrol grant in the amount of $734,541 (State-$606,265, County-$128,276). BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Sheriff's Department's Special Revenue Budget be amended as detailed in Schedule A. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners is authorized to execute the contract and to approve minor changes and contract extensions, not to exceed fifteen(15) percent variance, which are consistent with the contract as approved. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the future level of service shall be contingent upon the level of State funding available for this program. Mr. Chairperson, on behalf of the Finance Committee, I move the adoption of the foregoing resolution.
