Smith IN RE: ANTICIPATED LEGISLATIVE CHANGES AS A RESULT OF 1960 CENSUS TO: THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS Mr, Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen; WHEREAS, the 1960 federal census will be taken in the not too distant future, and WHEREAS, many of the statutes which regulate and control County affairs are limited to certain population minimums and maximums based upon the federal decennial census, and WHEREAS, it appears that Oakland County may in all probability have a population in the neighborhood of 750,000, and WHEREAS, such a parulation determination will leave Oakland County withovf benefit of the aforesaid statutes, or in many cases, if the statutes are allowed to remain as they presently exist without amendment, they will work a hardship on the County of Oakland; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislative Committee of the Board of Supervisors be directed to conduct a study to determine what statutes will have to be amended in order to maintain the status quo of the County and back to t:lc ;1:-,K:rd of Supervisors in sufficient time so that any proposed amendments may be enacted by the Legislature prior to the effective date of the census.
