IN RE: MEMORIAL FOR VINCENT S. MADISON
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
Vincent S. Madison, better known to most of his associates as "Vince',
passed away on May 11, 1960. He had served as member and as Vice Chairman of the
Oakland County Planning Commission by appointment of the County Board of Supervisors
since October 1956. As a member of the Planning Commission he rendered outstanding
service to the County, having devoted much time and given unselfishly of his abilities
as a planner at a time when Oakland County needed his services.
Mr. Madison at the time of his death was Director of Area Development for
the Detroit Edison Company. In 1951 his Company granted him leave to serve as Director
of the Electric Power Division on the American Mission to Korea, sent in connection with
the Economic Cooperative Aid program. He first joined the Detroit Edison Company in
1936 and was appointed to the position which he held at the time of his death in 1953.
He also spent several months in Korea in 1953 as advisor on electric power to the
United Nations economic coordinator for Korea. He was a member of the Engineering
Society of Detroit, the Detroit Real Estate Board, the Society of Industrial Realtors, the
American Industrial Development Council and the Great Lakes States Industrial Council
as well as the Oakland County Planning Commission.
He is survived by his wife Mary, two sons Gary and Stanley and two daughters
Nancy and Gale.
MR. CHAIRMAN, on behalf of the entire membership of the Board, I move
that the foregoing memorial resolution be spread on the minutes of this meeting and that
a copy thereof be forwarded by the County Clerk to his surviving wife and children.
