The meeting of the City Board of Canvassers was called to order by City Clerk Gadd at 3:30
P.M.
Present: Chairman Chadwick, Member Schonschack, Member White (Emergency
Placement)
Absent: Majomvic
Vacant: One
This meeting was called in accordance with the provisions of Public Act 65 of the Second
Extra Session of 1963, which provides for a City Board of Canvassers of four members, and
pursuant to all requirements of said Act to certify votes cast in the Special Election of the City
of Oak Park held on May 13, 1997. The purpose of this election was to determine the votes
cast at said election on the following Proposition:
GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDING PROPOSITION
Shall the City of Oak Park, County of Oakland, Michigan, borrow the principal
amount of not to exceed Nineteen Million Five Hundred Thousand ($19,500,000.00)
Dollars, and issue in one or more series its general obligation unlimited tax bonds
therefor, for the purpose of paying all or part of the costs of constructing municipal
buildings, including a new city hall, district court building, public safety building, and
multi-purpose recreation building; additions to and remodeling of the community
center, pool and library; furnishing, refurnishing, equipping and re-equipping new and
remodeled municipal facilities; demolishing existing facilities; and preparing,
developing and improving sites, including entrances, approaches and landscaping,
together with all necessary and related costs?
The members received the sealed envelopes containing the Statement of Votes, Optical Scan
Tabulator Tapes and copies of the Poll Books designated for the City Board of Canvassers as
submitted by the Election Board. Poll Books were inspected and compared -with the Optical
Scan Tabular Tapes and Statement of Votes and certified as follows:
Motion by White, seconded by Chadwick, CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY: To adopt the
following resolution:
WHEREAS, at the Special Election held in the City of Oak Park, County of Oakland,
Michigan, on May 13, 1997, between the hours of 7:00 o'clock A.M. and 8:00
o'clock P.M., Eastern Daylight Time, the proposition hereinafter set forth was
submitted; and
WHEREAS, returns from the voting precincts at said election have been filed with the City
Clerk and have been presented to and examined by the Board of Canvassers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
The Board of Canvassers hereby determines that the votes cast at the said
election held on May 13, 1997, on the General Obligation Bonding
Proposition, were as follows:

VOTES IN FAVOR OF THE PROPOSITION: 763
VOTES AGAINST THE PROPOSITION: 1,061
2. There being a majority of the qualified electors of the City of Oak Park voting
at said election having voted against the proposition, it is hereby determined
that the foregoing Proposition failed.
