HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - 1960.10.03 - 19279- RESOLUTION Miscellaneous Resolution #3705 Recommended by the Board of Public Works In Re: Huron River Sewage Disposal System Submitted by: Mr. Horton Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works has received requests from the Town- ships of Commerce, Novi and West Bloomfield as well as the municipalities of, Village of Novi, Walled Lake, Orchard Lake and Wixom to prepare a Master Plan for Sanitary sewers and sewage disposal for the Huron River Basin and the remain- der of the Rouge River Basin in Southwest Oakland County, and WHEREAS, in the opinion of the governing authorities of these municipali- ties, the development of this area of Oakland County is in the path of expected population explosion, and actually now in progress, will be seriously affected from a health standpoint if an early solution to the sanitary problem is not devel- oped, and WHEREAS, it is the responsibility of the Department of Public Works to develop such solutions where requested, and WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works has reviewed the recommendations of the Director of Public Works and recommends to the Board of Supervisors that such a program be carried out and known as the Huron River Sewage Disposal System. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors approves the project as recommended by the Board of Public Works and authorizes said Board to take the necessary steps toward the preparation of a Master Plan of sewers and sewage treatment facilities for the area, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Department of Public Works cooperate with the municipalities of the area in the development of the program, as well as any other units of government or agencies necessary to adequately coordinate the Master Plan so that no duplication of facilities will occur, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the sum of $2,200.00 be advanced to the Department of Public Works upon approval of the Ways and Means Committee, said funds to be advanced on a "loan basis" and to be repaid when construction financing is completed, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that it is the understanding of the Board that funds so advanced on a loan basis will be supplemented by funds advanced by the local units of government, to be used to study and plan the development of a master sewage system for the Huron River Basin.
