IN RE: REPORT -- BIDS FOR RELOCATION OF WEST BOULEVARD
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
Pursuant to Miscellaneous Resolution 3678 the Ways and Means and Buildings and
Grounds Committees advertised for bids for construction of the relocation of West Boulevard.
Bids advertised to be opened at a joint meeting of the Committees on August 10,
1960, produced a single bid in the amount of $87,600, which was $17,600 over the $70,000
estimated cost as set by the County Engineer. The joint Committees rejected this bid and
advertised for new bids to be taken on August 31, 1960. The five bids opened on said
date were as follows:

By joint resolution of the Committees on August 31, 1960, the low bid of Pike-Melvin
of Detroit for the construction of the relocation of West Boulevard at a total contract price of
$61,615.35 was accepted and the Board of Auditors was authorized to execute a contract on
behalf of the County and obtain from the successful bidder the required performance, labor
and material and maintenance bonds pursuant to the authority granted by the Board under
Miscellaneous Resolution 3678.
