The meeting of the City Board of Canvassers was called to order by Chairman Chadwick
at 3:00 p.m.
Present: Chairperson Gloria Chadwick, Members Sherry Ball, Marilyn Cohen,
Barbara Zabitz
Absent: None
MINUTES OF AUGUST 6,2008
Motion by Ball, seconded by Zabitz, CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY: To approve the
minutes of the August 6, 2008 meeting of the City Board of Canvassers.
CANVASS OF GENERAL ELECTION OF NOVEMBER 3, 2009
This meeting was called in accordance with all requirements of Public Act 65 of the
Second Extra Session of 1963, which provides for a City Board of Canvassers of four
members, and pursuant to the Oak Park City Code.
The purpose of this meeting is to certify' candidates and local propositions, in the General
Election held on November 3, 2009.
The Canvassing Board members received the sealed envelopes containing the Poll Books.
or copies of Poll Books, Optical Scan Tabulator Tapes, and canvassing reports as
submitted by the Election Board. Each precinct was reviewed, and results were certified
as follows:
Total ballots cast were 2182 constituting 9.75 % of the registered voters.

City of Oak Park Charter Amendment Ballot Proposition
Shall Section 4 of Chapter 19 of the Charter of the City of Oak Park be amended
to authorize the City to publish notices and ordinances in accordance with state
law and to publish the proceedings of the City Council in a newspaper, or post
them on the City of Oak Park's official website, or otherwise post or publish them
as provided by state law?

RESOLUTION CERTIFYING ELECTION RESULTS OF NOVEMBER 3, 2009
Motion by Cohen, seconded by Ball, CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY: To adopt the
following resolution:
WHEREAS, At the General Election, held in the City of Oak Park, County of Oakland,
Michigan, on November 3, 2009, between the hours of 7:00 o'clock a.m.
and 8:00 o'clock p.m., Eastern Daylight Savings Time, the returns from
the voting precincts at said election were filed with the City Clerk and
have been presented to and examined by the Board of Canvassers of the
City of Oak Park, Michigan;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
The Board of Canvassers, of the City of Oak Park, Michigan, hereby
determines that the votes cast at the General Election, held on November
3, 2009, are certified as follows:
Gerald E. Naftaly having received a sufficient number of votes is elected
Mayor.
Emile J. Duplessis having received a sufficient number of votes is elected
Council Member.
Angela Diggs Jackson having received a sufficient number of votes is elected
Council Member.

BE IT FURTI IER RESOLVED THAT:
City of Oak Park Charter Amendment Ballot Proposition
Shall Section 4 of Chapter 19 of the Charter of the City of Oak Park be
amended to authorize the City to publish notices and ordinances in
accordance with state law and to publish the proceedings of the City
Council in a newspaper, or post them on the City of Oak Park's official
w-ebsite, or otherwise post or publish them as provided by state law?
There being a majority of the qualified electors of the City of Oak Park voting at
said election having voted for the proposition, it is hereby determined that the
Charter Amendment Ballot Proposition passed.
Roll Call Vote: Yes, Chadwick, Ball, Zabitz, Cohen
No, None
Absent, None
Meeting adjourned at 3:25 p.m.
