The meeting of the City Board of Canvassers was called to order by Chairman Chadwick at
11:08 A.M.
Present: Chairman Chadwick, Member Felton, Member Zabitz
Absent: Member Ball
MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 3, 2004
Motion by Zabitz, seconded by Felton, CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY: To approve the minutes
of the November 3, 2004 meeting of the City Board of Canvassers.
CANVASS OF GENERAL ELECTION OF NOVEMBER 8, 2005
This meeting was called in accordance with the provisions of Public Act 65 of the Second Extra
Session of 1963, which provides for a City Board of Canvassers of four members, and pursuant
to all requirements of said Act to certify votes cast for candidates and local propositions, in the
General Election held on November 8, 2005.
The purpose of this election was to elect a Mayor for a two-year term, elect two Council
Members for four-year terms, and determine the votes cast at said election on Ballot Proposal
No. 2005-01 (Sale of Mixed Spirit Drink and Beer and Wine).
The members received the sealed envelopes containing the Poll Books and Optical Scan
Tabulator Tapes as submitted by the Election Board.
Poll Books were inspected and compared with the Optical Scan Tabulator Tapes and Reports.
There were no declared write-in candidates for this election.
Results were certified as follows:
Total ballots cast were 5,133 constituting 22.99% of the registered voters.

Candidate results of the General City Election of the City of Oak Park, Michigan, held on
November 8, 2005, were certified by the City of Oak Park Board of Canvassers as follows:
Gerald E. Naftaly having received a sufficient number of votes is elected Mayor.
Willie Horton having received a sufficient number of votes is elected Council Member.
Angela Diggs Jackson having received a sufficient number of votes is elected Council
Member.
BALLOT PROPOSAL NO. 2005-01
Motion by Zabitz, seconded by Felton, CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY: To adopt the following
resolution:
WHEREAS, At the General Election, held in the City of Oak Park, County of Oakland,
Michigan, on November 8, 2005, between the hours of 7:00 o'clock A.M. and
8:00 o'clock P.M., Eastern Daylight Time, the proposition hereinafter set forth
was submitted; and
WHEREAS, Returns from the voting precincts at said election have been filed with the City
Clerk and have been presented to and examined by the Board of Canvassers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
The Board of Canvassers hereby determines that the votes cast at the said election held
on November 8, 2005, on Ballot Proposal No. 2005-01 were as follows:

SHALL THE SALE OF SPIRITS AND MIXED SPIRIT DRINK
IN ADDITION TO BEER AND WINE BE PERMITTED FOR
CONSUMPTION ON THE PREMISES WITHIN THE CITY OF
OAK PARK UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THE LAW
GOVERNING SAME?
VOTES CAST N FAVOR OF THE PROPOSITION: 1,869
VOTES CAST AGAINST THE PROPOSITION: 3,182
There being a majority of the qualified electors of the City of Oak Park voting at said
election having voted against the proposition, it is hereby determined that the Proposition
failed. •
