CITY BOARD OF CANVASSERS
NOVEMBER 6,2002
The meeting of the City Board of Canvassers was called to order by City Clerk Gadd at
11:00 A.M.
Present: Chairman Chadwick, Member Ball, Member Felton
Absent: None
Vacant: One
This meeting was called in accordance with the provisions of Public Act 6$ of the Second
Extra Session of 1963, which provides for a. City Board of Canvassers of four members,
and pursuant to all requirements of said Act to certify votes cast, for the local proposals,
in the General Election of the State of Michigan held. on November 5, 2002.
The members received the seated envelopes containing the Statement of Votes and
Optical Scan Tabulator Tapes as submitted by the Election Board.
Optical Scan. Tabulator Tapes and Statement of Votes were examined and compared to
total. reports.
Motion by Chadwick, seconded by Felton, CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY: To adopt the
following resolution:
WHEREAS, At the General Election, held in the City of 0a1 Park, County of Oakland,
Michigan, on November 5, 2002, between the hours of 7:00 o'clock AM
and 8:00 o'clock P.M., Eastern Dayligbt Time, the propositions
hereinafter set forth. were submitted; and
WHEREAS, Returns from the voting precincts at said election have been filed with the
City Clerk and have been presented to and examined by the Board of
Canvassers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

The Board of Canvassers hereby determines that the votes cast at the said election
held on November 5, 2002, on the City Proposals were as follows:
PROPOSAL A.
GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDING PROPOSITION
This proposal would authorize the borrowing of funds estimated to be sufficient
only to cover the most urgent municipal paving needs of the City, including
Eleven Mile Road, certain unpaved streets, and parking lots and fire truck lanes in
the City 14a11 complex. (NOTE: All of these projects are also included in
Proposal B. If Proposal B. passes, no additional borrowing will be done pursuant
to this Proposal.)
Shall the City of Oak Park, County of Oakland, Michigan, borrow the
principal amount of not to exceed Seven Million ($7,000,000.00) Dollars,
and issue its general obligation unlimited tax bonds therefor, in one or
more series, for a period not to exceed thirty (3(3) years, for the purpose of
paying all or part of the costs of paving, grading, constructing, resurfacing
or reconstructing streets, drive approaches, and City parking lots in the
City, including curbs, gutters, drainage, landscaping, and utilities located
in and about said streets and parking lots, and the acquisition of necessary
rights in land, together with all necessary and related costs? The
estimated millage that will be levied for the proposed bonds in the first
year that the levy is authorized is eight-tenths (0.8) mills, and the
estimated simple average annual millage that will be required to retire the
debt is approximately six-tenths (0.6) mills.
VOTES CAST IN FAVOR OF THE PROPOSITION; 5,018
VOTES CAST AGAINST THE PROPOSITION: 3,470
There being a majority of the qualified electors of the City of Oak Park voting at
said election having voted for the proposition, it is hereby determined that the
Proposition passed.

PROPOSAL B.
GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDING PROPOSITION
This proposal would authorize the borrowing of funds estimated to be sufficient
to cover all present and immediately foreseeable municipal paving needs in the
City, including Eleven Mile Road, unpaved streets, all city-owned parking lots,
including fire truck lanes in the City Hall complex, and the reconstruction of
certain paved streets.
Shall the City of Oak Park, County of Oakland, Michigan, borrow the
principal amount of not to exceed Twenty-Two Million Five Hundred
Thousand (S22,500,000.00) Dollars, and issue its general obligation
unlimited tax bonds therefor, in one or more series, for a period not to
exceed thirty (30) years, for the purpose of paying all or part of the costs
of paving, grading, constructing, resurfacing or reconstructing streets,
drive approaches, and City parking lots in. the City, including curbs,
gutters, drainage, landscaping, and utilities located in and about said
streets and parking lots, and the acquisition of necessary rights in land,
together with all necessary and related costs? The estimated miltage that
will be levied for the proposed bonds in the first year that the levy is
authorized is two and one-half (2.5) mills, and the estimated simple
average annual millage that will be required to retire the debt is
approximately one and eight-tenths (1.8) mills.
VOTES CAST IN FAVOR OF THE PROPOSITION: 4,478
VOTES CAST AGAINST THE PROPOSITION: 4,232
There being a majority of the qualified electors of the City of Oak Park voting at
said election having voted for the proposition, it is hereby determined that the
Proposition passed.
