Miscellaneous Resolution 4441
BY: Mr. Ingraham
IN RE: RESOLUTION OPPOSING 8TH CIRCUIT JUDGE FOR OAKLAND COUNTY
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
Your Legislative Committee, having considered Senate Bill 163 and having
consulted with the Circuit Bench of Oakland County, the Chairman of the Board of
Auditors and the Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee; and being informed
that the cost of providing an additional court room approximates $100,000, with an
average cost of operating a court room of $460.00 per day of court; and that the
docket in the Oakland County Circuit Court is in current condition; and it appears
that any monies spent for additional judicial officers at the present time should be spent
in the creation of a County court system;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this Board of Supervisors opposes the
addition of an 8th Circuit Judge in this County and that copies of this resolution be sent
to Mr. John Semann, the legislative representatives of Oakland County and the members
of the Supreme Court of Michigan.
MR. CHAIRMAN, on behalf of the Legislative Committee, I move the adoption
