Mitchell Miscellaneous Resolution 4395 December 15, 1964 BY: Mr. Lahti IN RE: PROPOSED EXTENSION TO MEDICAL CARE FACILITY TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS Mr % Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS the County operates a medical care facility that has been considered inadequate in size by the Social Welfare Board for some years and to which plans for an extension have been in existence since 1946 but which have never been accomplished; and WHEREAS as a result of alterations to the interior of the structure, dictated by changes in the State fire regulations and other considerations, the capacity of the facility is actually less than it was 20 years ago; and WHEREAS due to the increase in population of the County, and the continued increase in the number of indigent aged persons within the population, the need for increased beds for the type of care given in a medical care facility has become acute; and WHEREAS current legislation permits a county to levy a tax of .1 mill for the purpose of construction; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that such a tax be levied and that the highest priority for use of these funds, and other funds available, be given to the construction of a 200-bed extension to the Medical Care Facility.
