Miscellaneous Resolution 4476 September 20, 1965

IN RE REPORT ON REFERRED LEGISLATIVE ITEMS
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
Since the last meeting of this Board, your Legislative Committee has received
several referral items of legislative interest.
Your Committee, at its meeting on September 10, 1965, considered these items
and herewith reports on the action taken.
1, Your Committee did not concur in a resolution from the Allegan County
Board of Supervisors requesting support in opposition to an increase in the salary for
our State Legislators.
2. Your Committee recommends support of the Allegan County resolution to promote
an amendment to the Michigan Constitution setting the election of Township Officers in the
Spring, and further, that Township Officers be elected for four-year terms.
3. Your Committee does not support a resolution from the Hillsdale County Board
of Supervisors proposing that Township Officers be elected for two-year terms.
4. A resolution from the Veterans Affairs Commission, concurred in by the
Veterans Affairs Committee, requested support for H.B. 2182. This bill would restore the
homestead exemption for veterans to $2,000 of the assessed valuation, with no income
limitation.
Your Legislative Committee, after due consideration, did not concur in the request
for support of H.B. 2182.
MR. CHAIRMAN, on behalf of the Legislative Committee, I move the adoption
of the foregoing report and the recommenda,tirs contained therein.
