IRWIN TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen: John K. Irwin, a former member of this Board, passed away on February 21, 1966. At the time of his passing he was 71 and many of those years had been devoted to serving the people of his community. He manifested his interest in public affairs by serving on the Pontiac City Commission and as a Supervisor for the City of Pontiac on this Board for eight years, from 1948 to 1956. During his tenure on the Board he served as a member of the Appropriations, Civil Defense, Miscellaneous, Veterans Affairs and Inter-County Committees. After leaving the Board, he continued to serve the public as a member of the Veterans Affairs Commission. His continued and long manifest interest in veterans' affairs was recognized by his election as Chairman of the Commission, a post he held at the time of his death. John K. Irwin will be mourned and long missed by all of us who knew him and by those who shared his endeavors through his long public career. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, Mrs. William Seabright of Evanston, Illinois; three sons, John K., Jr., Richard M. and Robert C., all of Pontiac; five sisters; and eleven grandchildren. MR. CHAIRMAN, I move that the foregoing memorial resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting of the Board of Supervisors and that the County Clerk be instructed to forward a certified copy thereof to his surviving wife Dorothy.
