RESOLUTION
RE: YEMORIAL 10 JUDGE DOTY
By: WILLIAM C. 'HUDSON
10 THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
Mr. Chairman, Ladies & Gentlemen:
Frank L. Doty was born February 10, 1860, in Rose Township.
After serving his Country in two wars and his County as a lawyer, a
Prosecuting Attorney and for the past 32 years a Circuit Judge, he
departed this life Jaeuary 11, 1962.
Frank Doty was not only an outstanding jurist but he was
likewise a man born of the soil, who helped to till it and plant it.
It is not unusual to use the langtage of the farm in reference to
Judge Doty for his roots were in the farm and his later happiness
sprang from it.
The simple truths that he learned as a boy on the farm endured
in him and were ever an integral part of his philosopy and nis conduct.
his early legal service in tne County was interrupted by a
call from his Country during the Mexican and again during World War I.
After serving in the Air Force as a pilot in Prance he returned TO
the County to serve as Prosecuting Attorney and later as Circuit Judge.
It was on the bench that Frank L.Xoty found his greatest challenge and
greatest victory. Those who sit in judgment of others find that it is
not an easy task and it would not be an easy -task for one who was
naturally endowed with compassion and understanding. We were indeed
fortunate to have The judicial robe* rest on the shoulders of this man
for, coupled with his compassion and his sharp, incisive mind, along
with the common sense which he inherited from his forefathers and his
humaneness there was a strict •Code of honor and integrity and, with
all that the sincerity and dignity that commands the respect and
admiration of all who entered the halls where justice was inipareialt
rendered.

Judge Dotyl a greatest quality was the strength that comes
from a sense of duty, a respect for the individual and a belief iu the
Almighty.
We have nt fears for him, and should the highest Court hear
us, we proffer this heartfelt testimony - he was *an upright judge -
a learned judge - and he was a conscientious man e .
MR, ChAIRMAN, on behalf of all the Members of this Board, I
move that the foregoing memorial be spread upon the minutes of This
°Ting of the Board, and That the County Clerk be. authorized to
forward a certified copy thereof to his family, with the seal of the
County ot Oakland affixed thereto.
