IN RE: SUSPEND RULES TO CONSIDER RESOLUTION TO PURCHASE PROPERTY
To the Oakland County Board of Supervisors
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS, the Ways and Means and Buildings and Grounds Committees have had
under consideration the advisability of purchasing additional lands adjacent to the County
Service Center; and
WHEREAS, the Committees have engaged the services of Wilcox and Laird, Plannil
Consultants, to make a study as to additional properties which should be considered by the
County at this time for purchase as addition to the County Service Center site; and
WHEREAS, the Committees have considered the purchase of the Allen property, so—called,
which fronts on the east side of Watkins Lake Road and consists of 36.30 acres and lies
immediately north of the property purchased by the Road Commission last year; and
WHEREAS, the Committees have obtained an option from the owner, Eva Allen,
For the purchase of this property for the sum of $90,000.00, which option expires on
October 27, 1962, at 12:00 o'clock noon; and
WHEREAS, the amount of the purchase price is not more than an appraisal of this
property as made by the County Equalization Staff; and
WHEREAS, your Committees are of the opinion that said real estate should be
purchased by the County and that funds to pay for said lands should be appropriated from
the unappropriated surplus; and
WHEREAS, in order to consider this matter at this time and to authorize expenditure
of County funds for the purchase of the above described real estate it will be necessary to
suspend the rules;
THEREFORE, on behalf of the Ways and Means Committee, and with the concurrence
of the Buildings and Grounds Committee, I move that the rules be suspended for the purpose
October 1, 1962

at this meeting and the expenditure of County funds therefor.
