BY: Mr. Heacock
IN RE: SITE FOR JUVENILE FACILITIES
To the Oakland County Board of Supervisors
Mr, Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
At the meeting of the Board on September 10, 1962, the Buildings and Grounds
Committee presented a progress report as to studies which were being made to locate a
site for juvenile facilities at the Service Center. This matter was originally referred to
the Committee by the Board by adoption of Miscellaneous Resolution 3950 on May 7, 1962.
A study was made as to possible alternate sites on County owned properties which
fed to the authorization to purchase an additional parcel of property by the Board on
October 1, 1962, consisting of about 36 acres fronting on Watkins Lake Road and adjacent
to the County Service Center.
The previous resolution of the Board requested that the recommendation of the
Buildings and Grounds Committee be presented during the September Session of the Board.
Your Committee recommends that future juvenile facilities to be provided at the
Service Center be situated on County owned property lying between Telegraph and Watkins
Lake Road but not necessarily be limited to the 36-acre parcel recently purchased pursuant --
to Resolution 4026.
MR. CHAIRMAN, I offer the following resolution:
BE IT RESOLVED that the foregoing recommendation of the Buildings and Grounds
Committee be approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Buildings and Grounds Committee be authorized
to continue to study this matter and present to the Board at a later date a report fixing the
exact site in the general area of the Service Center mentioned above for future juvenile
facilities.
