Please find attached two certified copies of amendments to the Charter of the
City of Pontiac, amending Section 12, Chapter III; Sections 3 and 11, Chapter IV;
Section 5, Chapter IV, and Sections 7, 9 and 10, Chapter IV, approved at the
election held August 8, 1972, together with certification of the votes cast for
and against said Charter Amendments.

I, the undersigned, the duly acting and qualified Clerk of the City of Pontiac, Oakland
County, Michigan, do hereby certify that the attached is a true and complete copy of
section 12, Chapter III; Sections 3 and 11, Chapter IV; Section 5, Chapter IV; and
Sections 7, 9 and 10, Chapter IV, of the Charter of said City, as amended, by a vote
of the electors of said City at the Primary Election held in said City of Pontiac on the
8th day of_August, 1972,
I do hereby certify that at said elecifon, the vote upon said Charter Amendments, was as

Amend Sections 3 and 11, Chapter IV 2,965 votes cast in favor

CHAPTER IV
Section 3 and Section 11
Section 3. The Primary Election, for the nomination of candidates for all .elective'
offices shall be held preceding the General Municipal Election on such date as pro -
vided by law.
Section 11. The General Municipal Election for all elective offices provided by
this Charter shall be held on such date as provided by law.

Section 5. Any person desiring to become a candidate for the office of Commissioner :
shall file with the Clerk, prior to any such Primary Election and by the time and date
provided by law, a statement of such candidacy, in substantially the following form:

Section 7, Section 9 and Section 10
Section 7. Upon said ballot the names of the candidates shall be arranged for the several
offices in accordance with the provisions of the General Law governing the. arrangement'.
of names of candidates on ballots for state and county offices. The names of the candi-
dates for Commissioner shall first be placed on the primary ballot with a square at the
left of each name, and immediately above the names of such candidates shall appear the
words, "Vote for (designate the number of Commissioners to be elected)."
Section 9. The primary ballots shall be in substantially the following form:,

Section 10. Having caused said ballots to be printed, the said Clerk shall cause to be
delivered at each polling place a number of said ballots equal to at least twice the .
number of electors voting in such polling precinct at the last General Municipal Election. ,
Any qualified elector may vote at such Primary Election. Challenges can be made by •
not more than two persons, to be appointed, at the time of opening the polls, • by the ‘,
Inspectors of Election; and the law applicable to challenges made at General Elections, •
shall be applicable to challenges made at such Primary Elections. The•Board Election
Inspectors shall, immediately upon the closing of the polls, count the ballots and as-
certain the number of votes cast in such precinct for each of the candidates, and make
return thereof to the Clerk, within twenty-four hours of the closing of the polls, upon
proper blanks to be furnished by said Clerk. On the day following the said Primary
Election the said Clerk shall canvass said returns so received from all the polling .
precincts and shall make and publish, in all the newspapers of said City, at least once,.
the result thereof. Said canvass shall be publicly made. The names of a sufficient number
of those candidates receiving the highest number of votes equivalent to twice'.the number of
Commissioners to be elected, and their names only, shall be placed on 'the ballot as candi- •
dates for Commissioners at such Municipal Election.
