SPENCE TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen: The passing of James F. Spence, former member of this Board, and former Mayor and City Commissioner of the City of Pontiac, on January 13, 1963, leaves a void which will be deeply felt. His life was one of outstanding service to his city and its citizens. It is therefore entirely fitting that this Board record in its journal a memorial to honor the memory of "Jim" Spence. He was born in Wilmington, Delaware, on July 31, 1391, and came to Pontiac in 1925. He was associated with General Motors Corporation for more than 33 years, and during most of that period served as administrator of the Corporation's Modern Housing Division. During the 1930s he served Pontiac well as City Commissioner and Mayor, and as a member of the Pontiac School Board. He was also a member and Chairman of the Pontiac Board of Review for 16 years, and was the Secretary of the Pontiac Manufacturers Association for 10 years, He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Benjamin Jerome of Pontiac, and Mrs. Hans Stoessel of Monroe, Connecticut; a son, James F., Jr. of Mt. Prospect, Illinois; eight grandchildren; and a brother, Alfred, of Wilmington. MR. CHAIRMAN, I move that this memorial be spread on the records of this Board and a copy forwarded to his surviving son and daughters. SPECIAL COMMITTEE Ma—rvin M-r. Alward William A. Ewart Robert F. Jackson Michael McAleer On behalf of the Special Committee, I move the adoption of the foregoing resolution.
