Miscellaneous Resolution 4166 April 30, 1963
BY: Mr. Levinson
IN RE: REPORT ON JURY COMMISSION
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
The Oakland County Jury Commission Bill, House Bill 232, was signed by the
Governor on April 26, 1963 and is now Act No. 35 of the Public Acts of 1963. This Act
was passed with Immediate Effect and decreases the term of the Jury Commissioners from
6 years to 2 years.
According to the terms of the Act, it will be necessary, if the Board is to establish
a Jury Commission, to do so by a majority vote of the members of the Board. Three members
shall be appointed by the Board of Supervisors. The compensation shall also be established
by the Board of Supervisors for each clay's service but the Act limits the number of days not
to exceed 100 in any one calendar year.
Your Ways and Means Committee, in accordance with Miscellaneous Resolution 4101,
will, in the June Session of the Board, make its recommendation of the necessary procedures
for the implementation of the Act.
MR. CHAIRMAN, on behalf of the Ways and Means Committee, I move that the
above report be received and placed on file.
