SERRA Date: Miscellaneous Resolution Number #92173 By: Commissioner Serra - 18th District In Re: Health Department To: The Oakland County Board of Commissioners Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS Oakland County previously terminated the positions of four sanitarians from the County Health Department who were certified by EPA to conduct hazardous waste disposal programs and; WHEREAS hazardous waste disposal is a continuing problem in Oaldand County and throughout Michigan requiring special expertise on the local level and; WHEREAS computer scheduling of health department restaurant inspections has resulted in a delay of one to two weeks between the request for a health department inspection and the completion of such an inspection and WHEREAS this delay is costly to Oakland County businesses and WHEREAS most counties are able to respond to requests for inspection is five days or less NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Health Department be and is hereby directed to restore the positions of four sanitarians certified by EPA to do hazardous waste disposal programs and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Oakland County Health Department is hereby directed to expedite inspection of restaurants so that no more than five business days pass between the request for inspection and the completion of such inspection. lk #92173 July 23, 1992 The Chairperson referred the resolution to the General Government Committee and the Personnel Committee.
