Barnett Mayor 248.656.4664 LOCAL CANVASS REPORT The City of Rochester Hills Canvassing Board was called to order at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 16, 2009 to review and canvass the results of the City Primary Election held on September 15, 2009. Members Present: Don Barlow, Paul Funk, Susan Galezcka, Deputy Clerk Others Present: Jane Leslie, City Clerk A quorum was not present as the other board members were not able to attend. Deputy Clerk Susan Galezcka was appointed to fill in for Mr. Hippie as a Republican. Sigrid Grace will come to the Clerk's Office next week to review the results. The canvass included the results for the office City Council Member at Large. The following motion was entered: Motion by Funk supported by Barlow to approve the report as presented. Ayes: Barlow, Funk, Galeczka Absent: Grace, Hippie Nays: None Johanna H. Allen and James Rosen will be the candidates for City Council Member at Large on the November 3, 2009 General Election ballot. Mr. Funk had questions regarding the light voter turnout. We discussed the previous vote of the voters in 2004 that rejected eliminating the City Primary. It was discussed that a Charter amendment would be needed to eliminate the Primary and citizens could petition for referendum or ask their City Council representatives to put an amendment question on a ballot. There were not problems at any precincts; all equipment sent to precincts worked. The attached print outs represent the Official Canvass of the Rochester Hills Canvassing Board.
