LOCAL CANVASS REPORT
The City of Rochester Hills Canvassing Board was called to order at 4:30
p.m., Wednesday, September 16, 2009 to review and canvass the results
of the City Primary Election held on September 15, 2009.
Members Present: Don Barlow, Paul Funk, Susan Galezcka, Deputy
Clerk
Others Present: Jane Leslie, City Clerk
A quorum was not present as the other board members were not able to
attend. Deputy Clerk Susan Galezcka was appointed to fill in for Mr.
Hippie as a Republican. Sigrid Grace will come to the Clerk's Office next
week to review the results.
The canvass included the results for the office City Council Member at
Large. The following motion was entered:
Motion by Funk supported by Barlow to approve the report as
presented.
Ayes: Barlow, Funk, Galeczka
Absent: Grace, Hippie
Nays: None
Johanna H. Allen and James Rosen will be the candidates for City Council
Member at Large on the November 3, 2009 General Election ballot.
Mr. Funk had questions regarding the light voter turnout. We discussed
the previous vote of the voters in 2004 that rejected eliminating the City
Primary. It was discussed that a Charter amendment would be needed to
eliminate the Primary and citizens could petition for referendum or ask
their City Council representatives to put an amendment question on a
ballot. There were not problems at any precincts; all equipment sent to
precincts worked.
The attached print outs represent the Official Canvass of the Rochester
Hills Canvassing Board. There b9ing nopiforther business, the Board
adjourned at 5:00 p.m.
Jarfe/Leslie, CI* Clerk
