Oakland County's big Board

consecutive term.
All things considered, a goveroit'W,

too large and even unwieldy.

Over an extended period of
years, we have been in capable
and competent hands. By and
large, the supervisors are men of
fine standing in their home com-
munities and they have com-
manded respect from their
fellow associates and from the
County as a whole. Certainly the
administrative group has con-
sistently been strong and trust-
worthy. Further, these active
heads have possessed the ability
to analyze the never-ending
problems that are constantly
presented by a county that

gratulated warmly on the fine
leadership he has shown. A
shrewd, conservative adminis-
tration has successively met and
faced new problems as they
arose and .solved them promptly
and efficaciOusly. Obviously,
there have been a few controver-
sial matters, but in these cases .
the leaders have never indicated
any disposition to thrust things
down their cOmpatriotS throats
or play the parts of dictators.

County home rule is probably just
over the immediate horizon, despite
its setback in the legislature. and we
can enter that new phase of govern-
ment with the satisfaction- and
knowledge of a good job well done
under the .old plan which -sufficed
for a small community but which
is rather antiquated in the light of
today's developments here: • •
