IN RE: ADOPTION OF RECIPROCAL RETIREMENT ACT
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS, Act No. 88 of the Public Acts of 1961, known as the "Reciprocal
Retirement Act", being Sections 4. 1601-5 M.S.A., provides a method whereby a
member of one "reciprocal retirement system" with 5 or more years of service may, upon
transfer to another "reciprocal retirement system", within a 5-year period, through a
process of tacking of such combined services, maintain his retirement rights under the
respective systems involved so as to qualify for a pension from each of the systems upon
his final retirement in accordance with the conditions and procedures of said Act; and
WHEREAS, the Act provides that the County of Oakland may by maiority vote of
its governing body, namely, the Oakland County Board of Supervisors, come within the
provisions of the Act; and
WHEREAS, the Oakland County Employees' Retirement Commission deems the
adoption of this Act to be to the best interests of the County of Oakland and its employees
under the Oakland County Employees' Retirement System;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this Board elect to have the provisions of
Act No. 88 of the Public Acts of 1961 made applicable to its employees under the Oakland
County Employees' Retirement System as provided for in Section 4.1603, Subsection (2)
of said Act.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, pursuant to Section 4.1603, Subsection (3), a
certified copy of this resolution be filed with the Secretary of State by the County Clerk
within 10 days of its passage by this Board.

resolution.
