HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - 1964.04.14 - 20471Miscellaneous Resolution 4294 April 14, 1964 By: Mr. James Carey IN RE: NOTICE OF AMENDMENT TO BY-LAWS, RULE XII, SECTION 5 TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen: Your Cooperative Extension Service Committee has been reviewing the statement of basic functions of the Committee as set forth in Rule XII, Section 5, of the By-Laws which reads as follows: COOPERATIVE EXTENSION SERVICE To provide liaison between the Extension Agents of the County and the Board of Supervisors, to study and make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on matters involving the agricultural interests of the County, including general supervision and control of 4-H, Home Demonstration and Consumer Marketing activities, the Cooperative Extension work of Michigan State University, bureaus of the state or federal government designed to aid the agricultural interests of the County, appropriations of money to aid the agricultural interests of the County. Because of the County's population growth, and the shift from agricultural to urban living, your Committee believes that the statement of its functions should be revised to reflect the resulting change in the scope of activities of the Cooperative Extension Service. Therefore, in accordance with Section 1 of Rule XXI, notice is hereby given that the Cooperative Extension Service Committee recommends that the statement of its functions be revised to read as follows: COOPERATIVE EXTENSION SERVICE To provide liaison between the Cooperative Extension Service of Michigan State University and the Board of Supervisors. To guide and encourage the educational programs of the Extension Service to gain major benefits for the people of Oakland County. To have general supervision and control of the Oakland County 4-H activities. To assist in coordinating the efforts of the state or federal government designed to aid the agricultural interests of the County and in the conservation of natural resources. Harold T. CHAIRMAN, on behalf of the Cooperative Extension Service Committee, I move that the foregoing resolution be referred to the By-Laws Committee for study and recommendation back to the Board no later than April 28, 1964.
