HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - 2013.05.22 - 20844MISCELLANEOUS RESOLUTION #I3124 May 22, 2013 BY: GENERAL GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE, Christine Long, chairperson IN RE: HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES - HOMELAND SECURITY DIVISION — HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT PROGRAM (HSGP) FOR FISCAL YEAR 2009 FUNDING AMENDMENT TO: THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: WHEREAS the State of Michigan awarded Oakland County grant reimbursement for the period August 1, 2009 through April 30, 2012 to support the four mission areas or homeland security (prevent, protect, respond and recover) and address the 8 national priorities and 37 target capabilities as they relate to terrorism, and to strengthen preparedness planning; and WHEREAS per Miscellaneous Resolution #10132 Oakland County received $148,218 in State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) funding and $1,474,714 for Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) funding for a total (HSGP) award of $1,622,932, ; and WHEREAS Oakland County has since been notified that this amendment will modify Article IV: to increase the original grant amount under the portion of funding awarded for (UASI) by an additional $311,000 which exceeds 15% of the original (HSGP) award for a total of $1,933,932 and, therefore, requires a resolution of acceptance; and WHEREAS the performance end date of these projects is January 31, 2013; and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners authorizes acceptance of FY 2009 Homeland Security Grant Program supplemental funding from the State of Michigan in the amount of $311,000. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners directs its Chairperson or designee to execute the grant funding amendment on behalf of the County of Oakland. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that acceptance of this additional funding does not obligate the County to any future commitment. Chairperson, on behalf of the General Government Committee, I move the adoption of the foregoing resolution.
