REPORT 3627 April 12, 1960
BY Mr. Levinson
IN RE: LEGISLATION TO SET ONE MILL CEILING ON WELFARE EXPENDITURES
TO: THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
At the meeting of the Board on January 18, 1960, the matter of legislation
setting a ceiling of one mill on the County's share of welfare costs was referred back
to the Ways and Means Committee for study and report. Since that date your Committee
has discussed the matter at two meetings and made a study of House Bill 104 which was
proposed by Wayne County as an amendment to Act 280 of the Public Acts of 1939 to
set a ceiling of one mill of State equalized value on the County's portion of relief
costs. This bill died in the Committee of the House of Representatives. Since the Legislature did not
bill
look with favor on this /your Ways and Means Committee took no action with respect to this legislation.
MR. CHAIRMAN, on behalf of the Ways and Means Committee, I move that
the foregoing report be received and placed on file.
