HomeMy WebLinkAboutElection Canvasses - 1995.04.25 - 2148REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF CANVASSERS CITY OF SOUTHFIELD COUNTY OF OAKLAND, MICHIGAN April 25, 1995 A Regular Meeting of the Board of Canvassers convened at 8:00 p.m. on April 27, 1995 in the Council Conference Room, 26000 Evergreen Road, Southfield, Michigan, to canvas the results of the Special Election held April 25, 1995. PRESENT: Bodnar, Crosthwaite, Holzman ABSENT: Webb A motion was offered by Bodnar and supported by Holzman that Crosthwaite be elected Chairman of the Meeting of the Board of Canvassers. Motion was adopted. WHEREAS, at the Special Election -duly called and held in the City of Southfield, County of Oakland, Michigan, on Tuesday, April 25, 1995, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., Eastern Daylight Saving Time, pursuant to the provisions of Act 239, Public Acts of 1970 as amended on September 15, 1981, the proposals whose names appear hereafter were presented on the ballot at said Special City Election; and; WHEREAS, the votes cast at said election have been filed in the office of the City Clerk and have been presented and examined by the Board of Canvassers; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Canvassers hereby determines that the votes cast for the candidates at the said Special Election held on April 25, 1995 were as follows: _ I 7 - rn PROPOSAL A - FAMILY RECREATION CENTER BOND PROPOS114113N , -."-f 15. rri :mu r-rt No 5582 (---) -< --i 1 '---- ,-, ,:e.--n -z) Yes 2035 rri 1 .V2. r7C) ... Proposal A - Family Recreation Center Bond Proposition Proposal B - Library Bond Proposition Proposal C - Library Operating Millage Charter Amendment TOTAL VOTES CAST: 7,753 A motion was made and seconded to adjourn and the meeting was adjourned at 9 :14P.m I, Susan H. Rydell, the duly appointed and qualified Deputy City Clerk of the City of Southfield, County of Oakland, Michigan, do hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and complete copy of a resolution adopted by the Board of Canvassers at their meeting of April 27, 1995. (See Sketch Below) NOTE: Punch with sufficient force to be sure that the "black dot" is completely punched out of the card and into the foam backing. AFTER VOTING, raise (do not detach) the Official Ballot Card from foam backing. LOOK AT THE BACK OF THE CARD! EXAMINE IT. BE SURE ALL HOLES ARE CLEANLY PUNCHED! CITY OF SOUTHFIELD, OAKLAND COUNTY, MICHIGAN SPECIAL ELECTION, APRIL 25, 1995 PROPOSAL A FAMILY RECREATION CENTER BOND PROPOSITION Shall the City of Southfield borrow an amount not to ex- ceed Twenty-Five Million Dollars ($25,000,000) and issue its general obligation unlimited tax bonds for the purpose of developing a family recreation center by paying the costs of renovating and expanding the Civic Center Sports Arena by the acquisition, construction and equipping of locker room and public area improvements, a new lull size ice arena, a new studio size ice arena, a new gymnasium g4,03.5- facility, a new indoor/outdoor leisure aquatic center, new activity space, and new administrative offices for the Department of Parks and Recreation, and renovating the space in the Civic Center presenty occupied by the Depart- ment of Parks and Recreation? PROPOSAL B LIBRARY BOND PROPOSITION Shall the City of Southfield borrow an amount not to ex- ceed Thirty Million Six Hundred Thousand Dollars ($30,600,000) and issue its general obligation unlimited tax bonds for the purpose of paying the costs of acquir- ing, constructing and equipping a new main library building, including acquiring, developing and improving the site therefore, and renovating the space in the Civi,65), Center presently occupied by the library? 495-5 77-0,,zeo6 When you have completed voting and inspected it for "chips", raise (do not detach) the Official Ballot Card from the foam backing. PROPOSAL C LIBRARY OPERATING MILLAGE CHARTER AMENDMENT Shall the Charter of the City of Southfield be amended to provide that the amount which the city may raise in any ..,,,4'74/ one year for library use by ad valorem taxes upon the assessed value of taxable property in the city be increas- ed by seven-tenths of one mill which, if fully levied by the City Council in the year 1995, would provide an estimated revenue increase of one million six hundred thousand dollars? ada-
