Dear Mr. Austin:
At the election held November 3, 1992 a City of Southfield Charter
Amendment was submitted to the electorate, and was approved.
Enclosed are certified copies of said amendments for filing with your office
as required by statute.

RESOLUTION NO. 92.283
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the proposed amendment shall be
submitted to the qualified electors of the City of Southfield and printed on
the ballot in the following form:
SHALL THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF SOU'THFIELD
BE AMENDED TO PROVIDE THAT NO INCUMBENT
ELECTIVE CITY OFFICER SHALL BECOME A
CANDIDATE FOR ANY ELECTIVE CITY OFFICE,
EXCEPT TO SUCCEED HIMSELF OR HERSEIT,
WITHOUT FIRST RESIGNING FROM HIS OR HER
THEN INCUMBENT ELECTIVE CITY OFFICE.
PROVIDED, THAT SUCH PROVISION SHALL NOT
APPLY TO ANY INCUMBENT ELECTIVE CITY OFFICER
WHOSE TERM OF OFFICE WILL EXPIRE WITH THE
ELECTION IN WHICH HE OR SHE IS TO BE A
CANDIDATE FOR ANOTHER ELECTIVE CITY OFFICE.

Southfield, Michigan, do hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and accurate
copy of the resolution passed by the Southfield City Council at a Regular Meeting
held on May 26, 1992.

REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF CANVASSERS
CITY OF SOUTHFIFLD
COUNTY OF OAKLAND, MICHIGAN
November 5, 1992
A Regular Meeting of the Board of Canvassers convened at 8:00 p.m. on
November 5, 1992, in the Council Conference Room, 26000 Evergreen Road, Southfield,
Michigan, to canvas the results of the General Election held November 3, 1992,
PRESENT: Bodnar, Holzman, Webb
ABSENT: Crosthwaite
A reSohrtion was offered by Webb and supported by Bodnar that Holzman
be elected Chairman of the Meeting of the Board of Canvassers.
Motion was adopted.
WHEREAS, at the Special Election held in conjunction with the General Election duly
called and held in the City of Southfield, County of Oakland, Michigan, on Tuesday,
November 3, 1992 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., Eastern Standard Time,
the Charter Amendment which appears hereafter was presented on the ballot at said
General Election; and
WHEREAS, the votes cast at said election have been filed in the office of the City Clerk
and have been presented and examined by the Board of Canvassers;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Canvassers hereby
determines that the votes cast for the amendment at the said General Election held on
November 3, 1992, were as follows:

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Canvassers further determines
that the following amendment was approved:
Shall the Charter of the City of Southfield be amended to provide that no incumbent
elective City Officer shall become a candidate for any elective City office, except to succeed
himself or herself, without first resigning from his or her then incumbent elective city office,
provided that such provision shall not apply to any incumbent elective City officer whose
term of office will expire with the election in which he or she is to be a candidate for
another elective office.
