HomeMy WebLinkAboutElection Canvasses - 2002.11.05 - 21661 ^ 8/2002 10:37 FAX 248+354+7937 SFLD CITY CLERK 4 OAK COUNTY ELEC a002 REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF CANVASSERS CITY OF SOUTHFIELD COUNTY OF OAKLAND, MICHIGAN November 7, 2002 The R.egular Meeting of the Board of Canvassers convened at 8:45 p.m. on November 7,2002 in the Council Conference Room, 26000 Evergreen Road, Southfield, Michigan, to canvas the results of the General Election held November 5, 2002 PRESENT: Mary Kathryn DeCuir Sheridan Holzman Charles Kleinbrook ABSENT: Sylvia S. Stem A motion was offered by and supported by Kleinbrook that Holzman be elected Chairman of the Meeting of the Board of Canvassers. Motion was adopted. -WHEREAS, at the General Election duly called and. held in the City of Southfield, County of Oakland, Michigan, on Ttlesda,y, November 5, 2002 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., Eastern Standard Time, pirsuant to the provisions of Act 239, Public Acts of 1970 as amended on September 15, 1981, the Jharter amendment which appears hereafter was presented on the ballot at said General City Election; and; WHEREAS, the votes cast at said election have been filed in the office of the City Clerk and have been presented and examined by the Board of Canvassers; NOW, TIIEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Canvassers hereby determines that the votes cast for the charter amendment at the said General Election held on November 5,2002 were as follows: PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENT Yes 13,619 No 9,321 • IYn Nancy L. Bank CMC City C November 7, 2002 Date -*mow OS/2002 10:37 FAX 248+354+7937 SFLD CITY CLERK 4 OAK COUNTY ELEC i1003 AND BE IT FURTIIER RESOLVED that the Board of Canvassers further determines that the following charter amendment was approved: Shall the Southfield City Charter be amended to provide that the powers and responsibilities of the Civil Service Commission with regard to the employee retirement plan be transferred to a seven (7) member employees retirement board, three (3) of whom shall be the members of the Civil Service Commission, one (1), excluding any member of the retirement system, appointed by the Mayor with confirmation by Council, two (2) elected by active employee members o f the retirement system from their own number, and one (1) elected by retired employee members of the retirement system from their own number for terms of office established by ordinance. TOTAL VOTES CAST: A motion was made and seponded to adjourn and the meeting was adjourned at Chairman • I, Nancy L. M. Banks, the duly elected and qualified City Clerk of the City of Southfield, do hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and complete copy of a resolution adopted by the Board of Canvassers at their meeting of November 7, 2002. •
