Bouchard 1200 North Telegraph Bldg. #38 East Pontiac, MI 48341 Re: Brandon Township's request to increase staffing Dear Sheriff Bouchard, On May 4, 2015 the Charter Township of Brandon approved a motion to replace our shared Oakland County Sheriff's deputy with a full-time deputy beginning after June 1, 2015. This action was contingent upon Independence taking the same action as they are paying for the other half of the shared deputy. it is my understanding that the Independence Board of Trustees has taken similar action at one of their recent meetings. Therefore, I am requesting the Oakland County Sherriff's Office take the steps necessary to facilitate this action. The OCSO and Independence Township have been very accommodating in the creation of a shared car when the downturn in the economy prohibited Brandon Township from maintaining its staffing levels. Brandon Township is now in a better financial position and would like to revert to its previous staffing on midnights as long as Independence is willing. We are requesting to increase our current staffing of 11.5 officers to a total of 12 officers. After this staffing adjustment is made we will have 1 Detective Sergeant, 9 Deputy II (no- fill), and 2 Patrol Investigators. I understand that this change must be approved by the Oakland County Board of Commissioners. Please let me know when this change will occur. Sincerely, Kathy Thurman Brandon Township Supervisor (248) 627-4918 Cc: Dale Cunningham Sergeant Glover Pat Kittle Resolution #15182 July 16, 2015 The Chairperson referred the resolution to the Human Resources Committee and the Finance Committee.
