IN RE: VETERANS' SERVICES DIVISION — 2017 COUNTY VETERANS INCENTIVE GRANT —
GRANT ACCEPTANCE
To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners
Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS the Oakland County Veterans Services Division has been awarded a grant of $20,000.00
from the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency; and
WHEREAS the funds are part of the County Incentive Grant Program to enhance the service provision to
Michigan veterans by supporting the purchase of a vehicle for the transportation of veterans; and
WHEREAS the van purchased by the Oakland County Veterans Services Division, vehicle number 16-
714, enables the Veterans' Services Division to transport veterans to the VA Medical Centers in Detroit
and Ann Arbor; and
WHEREAS the Oakland County Veterans' Services Division has met all requirements for receipt of the
grant; and
WHEREAS this grant has completed the Grant Review Process in accordance with the Board of
Commissioners Grant Acceptance Procedures.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners approves
acceptance of the Michigan Veteran Affairs Agency County Incentive Grant.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners is authorized to
execute the grant agreement and to approve any grant extensions or changes, within fifteen percent
(15%) of the original award, which are consistent with the original agreement as approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that acceptance of this grant does not obligate the County to any future
commitment and continuation of the grant program is contingent upon future levels of grant funding.

Re: County Incentive Grant Award
Dear Mr. Wootten
Congratulations! Oakland County has been selected to receive a financial award from the Michigan
Veterans Affairs Agency, based on your proposal to enhance its veteran service provision.
The total amount of the award is a one-time payment of $20,000 which will be electronically
transferred once our agency receives the following information which needs to be submitted by
Friday, June 30, 2017:
• A signed letter from the Chairman of Oakland County's Board of Commissioners or the
County Administrator stating the county is accepting the grant funds of $20,000 to
purchase a vehicle for the County Department of Veterans Affairs. This letter must also
include: Name of County Treasurer (individual responsible to receive the funds),
Federal Tax ID, Transmittal routing and account numbers, and the County's billing
address
• Signed letter from the Director of the County's Department of Veterans Affairs
stating which Michigan Public Act their CDVA is formed under and if their county
is levying a mileage for the Veterans Relief Fund (PA 214 of 1899) and how
much

Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
Pursuant to Rule XII-C of this Board, the Finance Committee has reviewed the above referenced
resolution and finds:
1. The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency awarded the Oakland County Veterans' Services funding
in the amount of $20,000 to partially offset the cost of the wheelchair accessible van (#16-714)
purchased for the Veterans' Affairs division.
2. The grant funding period is October 1, 2016 through September 30, 2017.
3. There is no County grant match requirement.
4. Acceptance of this grant does not obligate the County to any future commitments.
5. A FY 2017 budget amendment is recommended.
