IN RE: CIRCUIT COURT - AUTHORIZATION FOR PUBLIC SEATING IN COURTHOUSE CORRIDORS
To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners
Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS, upon receipt of the referral of Miscellaneous Resolution #93018,
the Planning & Building Committee reviewed the total lack of seating for the
citizens of the County when they are awaiting appearance before a circuit judge,
and
WHEREAS, the Planning & Building Committee has determined that there is an
immediate and pressing need to provide this long-overdue public seating in the
corridors outside the courtrooms, and
WHEREAS, Facilities Engineering has identified suitable seating for
placement in the court corridors, and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that there exists $350,000 in the
Miscellaneous Remodeling Account of the Capital Improvement Program which could
be allocated for this purpose.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners
does hereby direct the County Executive to take all action necessary to provide
permanent public seating in the public hallways outside of the Circuit Courtrooms
for 48 3-person seating units including advertising and receiving of bids and a
subsequent award of contract.
