CITY GENERAL ELECTION - NOVEMBER 6, 2007
STATEMENT OF VOTES,
The whole number of votes given for and against the:
CHARTER AMENDMENT PROPOSAL No. 1
This Amendment to the Walled Lake City Charter would delete Chapter 15 (Supervisors) and the portions of
Section 5.1 and 5.14(b) referring to the appointment of Supervisors. These provisions, superseded by state
election law changes, previously govern appointment by the City Council of representatives (Supervisors) on
the County Board of Supervisors (now called County Board of Commissioners). The county is now divided
into commissioner districts, each of which elects a member of the County Board of Commissioners.
Shall Chapter 15 (Supervisors) and the references to Supervisors in Sections 5.1 and 5.14(b) be deleted
from the Walled Lake City Charter?

STATEMENT OF VOTES,
The whole number of votes given for and against the:
CHARTER AMENDMENT PROPOSAL No. 2
Section 5.1 of the Walled Lake City Charter requires two years residency in the City immediately before
running or filling a vacancy for City elective office which is unenforceable due to court decisions. Courts
have upheld one year residency requirements for elective office. This Amendment would reduce the local
residency requirement in Section 5.1 from two years to one year.
Shall the two year City residency requirement for elective offices set forth in Section 5.1 of the Walled Lake
City Charter be reduced from two years to one year?

requirement for members of a City Board or Commission. Residency requirements for paid members of a
City Board or Commission are no longer enforceable due to changes in state law.
Shall Section 5.1 of the Walled Lake City Charter be amended to provide for a one year residency

giving the Mayor and members of Council discretion to reject the per-meeting pay.
Shall Section 4.3 of the Walled Lake City Charter requiring the Mayor and Council members to accept the
per-meeting pay provided by Charter be amended by adding an additional provision giving members of

CITY GENERAL ELECTION — NOVEMBER 6, 2007
STATEMENT OF VOTES,
The whole number of votes given for and against the:
CHARTER AMENDMENT PROPOSAL No. 5
Walled Lake City Charter Section 3.4 states that regular City elections are held in April each even numbered
year. As already recognized in Sections 3.5 and 3.9, which reflect changes in Michigan election law, regular
City elections are now held on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November of each odd
numbered year. This amendment changes stated election dates in Section 3.4 to coincide with actual
current election dates.
Shall regular City election dates stated in Section 3.4 of the Walled Lake City Charter be amended to state
the actual dates for holding regular City elections?
