MISCELLANEOUS RESOLUTION # 94036

IN RE: ANIMAL CONTROL ESTABLISH 1994 MUNICIPALITIES ANIMAL CARE CENTER RATES FOR
BOARDING AND DISPOSAL
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Mr. Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
WHEREAS the Oakland County Animal Control Division administers the provisions of P.A. 339 of
1919 as amended (the Dog Law); and
WHEREAS the Animal Control Division renders services to local jurisdictions through Purchase
Contracts; and
WHEREAS the Oakland County Board of Commissioners by Miscellaneous Resolution #92288,
dated December 101 1992, established a unit price of $12.92 per day to be charged for care of boarded
animals, a unit price of $9.75 for disposal of small dead animals, $11.13 for disposal of live small animals,
and $2.07 for disposal of boarded animals; and
WHEREAS the Oakland County Animal Control Division and the Department of Management and
Budget, through a cost analysis, recommend that the rates should be decreased to a unit price not to
exceed $9.50 for disposal of small dead animals, a unit price not to exceed $10.66 for disposal of live, non-
boarded small animals, a unit price not to exceed $12.26 per day to be charged for care of boarded animals
and a unit price not to exceed $1.92 for disposal of boarded animals; and
WHEREAS the government of Oakland County would recover 100% of its costs for disposal.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland County Board of Commissioners does
hereby establish the following Animal Care Center Rates for boarding and disposal to be charged to
municipalities purchasing service contracts with the Oakland County Animal Control Division:
Care of boarded animals
Disposal of live (non-boarded) small animals
Disposal of live (boarded) small animals
Disposal of small dead animals

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Executive is authorized to execute purchase of service
contracts with local jurisdictions at the aforementioned rates.
Mr. Chairperson, on behalf of the Public Services Committee, I move the adoption of the foregoing
resolution.

*Animal Disposal cost and Medical Supplies used for innoculations only, which are
not included in the Daily Board Fee operating expense. Costs associated
with boarding animals before disposal should follow the Daily Board Fee,
as well as costs for innoculations and disposals.

MISCELLANEOUS RESOLUTION #94036
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
Pursuant to Rule XI-G of this Board, the Finance Committee has
reviewed Miscellaneous Resolution #94036 and finds:
1) The Public Services Committee has recommended the
following 1994 Municipal Animal Care Center rates as
summarized below (see attached material for details):
Care of Boarded Animals $12.26
Disposal of live (not boarded) small animals $10.66
Disposal of live (boarded) small animals $ 1.92
Disposal of small dead animals $ 9.50
2) A cost analysis has determined that the recommended
adjustment in rates would continue to recover 100% of the
cost for contracted Boarding and Disposal, consistent
with the County policy relative to municipality disposal
contracts.
3) The change in rates requires no amendment to the 1994
Adopted Budget.
