Chairperson, on behalf of the General Government Committee, I move the acceptance of the foregoing Report. McCulloch, Chairperson IN RE: M.R. #95162 - (OppoSe) SB256 and SB257 Revision to Soldiers' Relief Commission To the Oakland County Board of Commissioners Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen: The Finance and Personnel Committee, having reviewed the above-referenced resolution on July 20, 1995, reports with the recommendation that the resolution be adopted. FINANCE AND PERSONNEL COMMITTEE May 25, 1995 MISC. RES #95162 BY: Commissioner John Garfield RE:(Oppose)SB256 and 5E257-Revision to Soldiers Relief Commission TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Chairp=!rson, Ladies and Gentlemen: Whereas, Public Act 214 of 1899 mandates that each county in Michigan have a Soldiers Relief Commission, and Whereas, presently the Soldiers Relief Commissions are required to annually submit a report of expenditures and activities to their respective Board of Commissioners, and Whereas, Senate Bill 256 proposes that Public Act 214 of 1899 be amended to require the annual report also be sent to the Board of Trustees of the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund, a State agency, and its companion bill, SB 257, changes the reporting standards and criteria, and Whereas, there is no State funding for this change in the mandates upon the counties. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the Board of Commissioners for the County of Oakland opposes the passage of SB 256 and S2 257, as unfunded mandates, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be sent to all Oakland County legislators, the Michigan Association of Counties, and Oakland County's legislative liaison personnel.
