IN RE: M.R. #96033, COMMISSIONERS--EXTENSION OF TERM OF OFFICE
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Chairperson, Ladies and Gentlemen:
The General Government Committee, having reviewed the above-
referenced resolution on February 26, 1996, reports with the
recommendation that the resolution be adopted.
Chairperson, on behalf of the General Government Committee, I
move the acceptance of the foregoing Report.

RE: COMMISSIONERS--EXTENSION OF TERM OF OFFICE
TO THE OAKLAND COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS:
MR. CHAIRMAN, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
WHEREAS, Count y government in Michig an has evolved to a
multi-faceted, complex form of local g overnment which delivers a
multitude of diverse services to its citizens and
and
WHEREAS, in order to operate such a multifarious
governmental nrgani7Atim i all County elected officials, except
Count y Commissioners, serve for four-year terms, and
WHEREAS, two-year terms for Count y Commissioners impede
the smooth functionin g of operations within the Board of
Commissioners as the biennial election c ycle reduces the efficiency
of the Board of Commissioners.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Oakland Count y
Board of Commissioners does hereb y request the State Le g islators to
pass legislation which will extend Count y Commissioner terms to
four y ears.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this
resolution be sent to al= Oakland County State Le gislators, its
leg islative agents and the Michi g an ARqnritinn of Counties.
Chairman, we move the adoption of the fore going
resolution.
